Casting on Love is my personal charity group which I have had for a number of years.
I have now decided to use the power of blogging to gather more friends to participate.
Casting on Love is designed to use our talents of knitting, crochet or quilting. With them we can meet 3 basic needs common to both humans and animals.

Comfort, security, & warmth.

Casting on Love online. A call for help!

Hello,
Thank you for stopping by. It is quite a process, (more than I thought) getting this up and running online. I haven't had any visitors yet but am holding out hope that all the knitters and people who crochet will stop by and be moved to participate. We could really use the help.

Although I have been doing this for years, it has been a small operation and I felt it was time for growth. With only a handful of ladies, only so much can be accomplished. There is more strength in numbers.

You are an important part of that growth. Your response is crucial! I am trying to do all I can to direct traffic to the site. Today I will try and exchange links with other knitting and crochet sites, especially those who have free knitting and crochet patterns.

Yesterday I added some links to sites which do have tons of free knitting and crochet patterns. You'll have fun looking through those. They are in the right hand column.

Please leave me a comment if you stop by so I know you're out there, it will encourage me. If you wish to participate, even better! e-mail me at castingonlove@yahoo.com and I will start a participant list in the right column.
I can't wait to hear from you!

Preemie Patches

If you were the Mom or Dad of this precious gift
wouldn't it be much more comforting to see a lovely hand
made blanket covering your little angel?

Hospitals are in constant need of these little blankets for preemies and they really appreciate the fact that total strangers could be so loving.  Every time I go for a delivery they always say how surprised and happy the mothers are to see their little precious one all snuggled in hiding all those unnerving connections.  Having a preemie is such a stressful thing to go through and these little blankets are a touch of warmth and comfort to both mother and child.

Thank you for your kindness!

Baby Patches

Unfortunately every baby does not come into the world under ideal circumstances or have a life like the little one depicted in the photo above. (which is from a crochet pattern online)

But, we can help! By knitting or crocheting standard sized baby blankets and providing them to babies in need. These can then be delivered to hospitals, children's hospitals, pregnancy centers and women's shelters.
You stitch and we'll collect and deliver!

To see instructions just click on the tab above ~Baby Patches~

Thanks again for your love!

Little Pal Patches

As children we are not yet equipped to handle the many challenges of being seriously ill, or being part of a family who have severe emotional or physical needs.

One simple thing we can do is knit, crochet, or quilt a little comfort for them.  When they see that they are getting a soft and colorful gift made especially for them, their little faces light up.

For the children who have frequent and long hospital stays, these blankets are appreciated in an atmoshpere which can be a little cold both visually and physically.

The size we make is usually a lap-ghan which is a bit smaller than a single bed sized.
You should see the smiles when these are delivered!

These also go to children whose home life may be in distress and parents are in need of help.  They also go to women's shelters for the children there.

See the Little Pal Patches tab at the top of the page for instruction to donate to this division of Casting on Love.

And thank you again for all your Love!

Paw Patches

Okay, we all know babies are awesomely cute however....who can resist a face like this!!! And there is that whole kissy, licky factor with the waggily tails.  I see puppies and kitties and it's all over, I'll be there for a while!

Most shelters have the connecting cages with multiple layers for the puppies and kittys. These cages are stainless steel, ideal for the cleanliness and health of the animals. However, they do fall far short on comfort which many of these animals are in desperate need of due to their own individual experiences.

Won't you share your talent and love with these little cuties?  I promise you, they are very grateful!
